HISTORY

Foundation and early years: Kellenberger was founded in 1917 by Leonhard Kellenberger in St. Gallen, Switzerland. The company began as a mechanical workshop for the manufacture of grinding machines.

First innovations: As early as 1918, Kellenberger launched the first universal grinding machine developed in-house. Further innovations followed in the years that followed, such as the first surface grinding machine (1920) and a special grinding machine for overhauling car engines (1922).

Specialization and growth: In the 1960s, Kellenberger specialized in universal cylindrical grinding machines. This specialization contributed significantly to the company’s growth and international recognition.

Takeovers and expansion: In 1995, Kellenberger was taken over by the American company Hardinge. This acquisition enabled Kellenberger to benefit from Hardinge’s resources and global reach.
