VOUMARD

The name VOUMARD remains synonymous with internal grinding technology to this day. Since its founding in 1939 by Bertrand Voumard, this core competence has been a defining feature of all machine developments. Since 2014, VOUMARD has been part of Kellenberger, complementing the product portfolio with a comprehensive range of internal and external cylindrical grinding machines.

VOUMARD high-performance grinding machines are optimized for flexible internal and external cylindrical machining of complex workpieces. High-precision chucks and fixtures for centerless grinding allow for the machining of nearly any workpiece shape and the execution of multiple internal and external grinding processes in a single setup. The workpieces processed on VOUMARD machines are as diverse as the products they are used in, ranging from the smallest individual parts for fuel injection systems in car engines to rings for ball bearings and complex components for machine tool spindles. Customers come from a wide range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, bearing manufacturing, tooling, and spindle production.

Additionally, VOUMARD relies on state-of-the-art software solutions such as BLUE Solution, which enables intuitive operation and maximum efficiency. The BLACK CAM Solution also provides high-precision control and programming, particularly for demanding grinding processes.

As part of the Kellenberger Technology Group, the VOUMARD brand benefits from the innovative strength that also extends to the brands KELLENBERGER, HAUSER, TSCHUDIN, USACH, and SUPER PRECISION. VOUMARD machines are part of the Kellenberger portfolio and can be identified by an ,VM’ in the model designation, such as KELLENBERGER VM30 or KELLENBERGER VM1000.

HISTOIRE

Fondation et premières années : Voumard a été fondée en 1939 par Bertrand Voumard à Saint-Imier, en Belgique. A l’origine, il s’agit d’un petit atelier avec quelques employés et des machines d’occasion.

Premiers succès : La percée se produit lorsque Voumard est chargé de construire une rectifieuse intérieure. Cette machine, connue sous le nom de VM 33, a été présentée lors d’une foire à Zurich et a ensuite été produite en série.

Expansion et innovation : En 1942, l’entreprise déménage à La-Chaux-de-Fonds, où elle fabrique des pièces pour les machines jusqu’en 2004. Dans les années qui suivent, Voumard développe une série de rectifieuses intérieures et vend plus de 5000 machines en 1954.

Des avancées technologiques : En 1981, Voumard présente à l’EMO de Hanovre la première rectifieuse 400 CNC à commande numérique. Elle est suivie en 1993 par la première rectifieuse à cames 110 CG (Cam Grinding).

Développements plus récents : En 1998, Voumard a lancé la première machine avec commande Siemens pour la rectification intérieure et extérieure simultanée. En 2005, l’entreprise a été vendue à Peter Wolters et en 2014 à Hardinge, par laquelle elle a été intégrée à l’entreprise Kellenberger.
